Thanks, Again.
It’s a holiday weekend and it’s a crazy time at the office and the Wisconsin State Journal has 2 “Bonus Day” delivery days this week (which means we deliver about 60 extra papers) AND THE THANKSGIVING NEWSPAPER IS HUMUNGEOUS!!! We had 3 teenagers help us and it still took quite a while for us to get them STUFFED for delivery!
Yeh, Thanks.
We decided to dismiss the “Family Thanksgiving” this year. Larry’s family is in Chicago and the Woman in Charge left us last year. Larry’s mom, Jessie, was one of those ladies that could make anyone feel comfortable. She is missed.
My family was having Thanksgiving, but schedules and opinions crossed, so we thought it safest to stay put.
Yeh, Thanks.
Boys and Girls Club of Dane County was scheduled to have a Thanksgiving Dinner. Larry gave me the OK to sign us up to help. I DIDN’T REALIZE HE STILL THOUGHT I WAS MAKING OUR OWN THANKSGIVING DINNER!!! (There is NO WAY I would be able to put together our house and dinner and family by 5pm that night) The error/miscommunication was figured out the night before… and KABOOM!!! FAMILY FEUD!!!
Yeh, Thanks.
So… I’m thinking that this is NOT a very good week. I AM NOT THANKFUL FOR ANYTHING THAT HAS HAPPENED THIS WEEK!!!
But a little reminder has been put on my chair. A post-it note says…“In Everything Give Thanks.”
It’s Thursday, and as we head out to the Boys and Girls Club attitudes are flying at full force. It didn’t help that I directed us to the wrong address, BUT WE FINALLY GOT THERE!! (Allied Drive in Madison.)
We assisted with the Kids’ Game Room. There was foosball and pool and board games… and Jenga Towers. Music was playing in the background and all kinds of people talking with each other. The volume increased as more and more people came in. Then it was DINNER TIME!!!
They invited us to get in line and have Thanksgiving dinner. There were over 60 tables set… probably enough to serve well over 200 people. Servers came and got our drink order as we sat down and we made new friends with those we chose to sit by, or those who chose to sit by us. More music… more fun… more family-like every moment. It began to be a Thanksgiving to be remembered… (See our video on our Facebook page) Channel 27 was there too!!
Yeh, Thanks.
Really… THANKS. We got a chance to be a part of something good, something community worthy, something life changing for us and those served.
There are a WHOLE LOT OF REASONS to be thankful, even if your week looks bad, or inconvenient. Be thankful for Life. Be thankful for Food. Be thankful for Education. Be thankful for Family. Be thankful for Friends. There is ALWAYS A REASON TO BE THANKFUL.
Yeh… THANKS!!!! REALLY, I mean it… WE ARE THANKFUL!!
