I Still Need Help Understanding All of the Plays
I go to Larry, Jr’s football games and Lexie’s soccer games and I wait for the other parents to comment on the calls before I say a word!!! I’m learning… but I still have that fear of embarrassment in me.
Football has hand offs and T Formations. Soccer has dribbling and heading and juggling and a passing wall. They sound goofy to me. Why are they so important? Isn’t the whole idea to get the ball down there as fast as possible? I think if they played by my rules I would understand the game a whole lot better. But I doubt the game would be as interesting. I bet it might be downright boring. Not much excitement in the way I play.
There are rules to follow and plays to make and we are learning them little by little. Yes. We have cut our spending by quite a bit. We are sticking to our “Gas and Grocery Cash” envelopes. We are set up on Auto Pay for most of our bills… but there is still more.
Our coach Mike is encouraging us with the idea that we don’t always have to come to our meetings with reports of TOUCHDOWNS!!!! We just need to focus on “advancing the chains”. Yep, that’s the one part of Football that I DO UNDERSTAND. You get opportunities to make plays and move your team a little further and further and further toward your goal line. It’s good to have a goal line. It’s good to have plays in mind. It’s good to have a good team AND a good coach. We have all of those. So, here we come Mortgage. It’s time for the Brown House Team to make some plays and Just Do It!
