Back to School…Back to Spending Money

Seems like we never got a break and neither did our bank account. It’s back to school, so that means back to spending immense amounts of money. The kids are being very helpful, however. (You’ll see that in a video for next week!) They decided that they don’t need to get new EVERYTHING. Just a few things need to be replaced. And, of course, a few clothing items need to be “updated” (SKINNY JEANS and FLAT BRIMMED HATS!!)

The thing that is the most frustrating is the Savings account that we take the School Supplies and Clothing $$ from. We have been doing well putting money in the account, and the purpose of the account is for this exact reason. But now that we have been saving, it’s just hard to take the money out without being disappointed! Odd, huh? We have another Savings Account that we have been building by even bigger proportions, but because this “School/Auto/Sports”savings account is one that is right before our eyes (through online banking @ Summit) it’s disappointing when we see it decrease. I’m thinking maybe that it shouldn’t be called a “Savings” account. I wonder if banks should come up with another name for money that is set aside for certain purposes, but it’s not accessible through your checking account until it is transferred there.

So it’s not a Savings Account and it’s not a Checking Account… how about a

“Just about to be used” Account.  Or a
 
“Gone in the Twinkling of an Eye” Account. Or a
 
“Hold this a minute, would ya?” Account.

I’m sure there could be a much better name for this account of ours so that I don’t get so disappointed when we have to use it. OR… We could just be happy that we actually have money in an account (any account… no matter WHAT the name of it is!!) that is going to help us to buy a few things for the kids this year. We do not need to get out the credit card and start the Debt Cycle again.

Yep. That’s probably the best answer. I doubt banks would go for a new type of bank account. They should probably stick to the good work they are doing. BUT if they ever needed a suggestion…

BTW… The ENVELOPE SYSTEM worked fairly well this last week. We needed more in our gas envelope because we did a bit more traveling than usual (Aunt Geraldine and Uncle Roosevelt were in town!!) However, we spent a bit less on groceries so it didn’t affect us too much. It sure did make us keep an eye on EVERY DOLLAR that was taken out of the envelope!!!
