“Do Over!!!”
We have about 15-20 people coming to our house for 4th of July Fireworks!!! I am NOT READY!
I think this would be a good time to call a “Do Over”
If you haven’t worked with kids you might not know that a “Do Over” means that it does not matter what has happened in the past, in the last game, or even just in the last word that came out of your mouth. If you call “Do Over!!” you get to start with a clean record… no mistake made in the past matters, AT ALL!! But, of course, it seems there is always that one kid who ALWAYS calls “Do Over” and interrupts every game. He or she never learns how to really play the game the right way. They just depend on there being a “Do Over” for them to use.
I am NOT an organized person. I’m not out-of-my-mind UNorganized. Just not in order. (e.g. All my underwear is in the same drawer, but if I had to find matching socks in a hurry?? Forget it.) So, as we are starting P.M. our coach is asking us to do things that seem very “organized” like End of the Month Statements and focusing on paying off the debt with the highest APR, or even putting debts together in one loan so they can be paid once a month instead of 4 different payments. It really makes sense when it is being said by our Coach Mike, sitting in a bank close to home at the end of the day. However, the end of the 1st month has come and I’m feeling like I have a MILLION things to do before our next meeting with Mike. The EOM statements are going to show what debt has been paid, what has been put into savings and what the balance of our checking acct was at the end of the month. It’s also going to show how much we still owe.
I would REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, like to call a “Do Over” and throw my very messy, unorganized, chaotic binder away and start over. But another lesson would go unlearned and it would probably have to be taken care of eventually. So, I’m not calling a “Do Over”. It’s time to, once again, Just Do It.
As I look into my P.M. Binder I see that I have already stored away my EOM’s for 3 of our debts. The others I can get online and print out. Savings account at one bank is easy to print out. Mortgage? Done. Car? Done. Summit Credit Union Accounts are easy to access and print out.
End of Month… That was not as difficult as I thought. It is even somewhat organized. Not sure how that happened. But I do remember Coach Mike making sure we understood the importance of it. Must have worked! No “Do Over” necessary. No need to pretend this month didn’t happen. No need to start everything over again. No need to be afraid of what happens at the end of the month.
Now…if I could just find my other sock.
