Hodge Podge and Mix n’ Match

This blog is a “Little bit of this and a little bit of that” as my friend Dylan says.

First up, we had our meeting with Jenna. It is really great to have an accountability partner and coach. She is able to cheer us up and cheer us on when we are feeling stuck. She helps us see the big picture – even when we are stuck in the day to day grind. It is really easy to get swept up into negative thinking and slowly slide back into old (comfortable) patterns.

She is there to help us identify trouble spots and see what can be improved. She is also able to challenge us, push us out of our comfort zones and help us grow. We always leave the meetings feeling like we have a good game plan, lots of encouragement and have made improvements from the previous month. It is also great to have a neutral party to help guide our decisions – she may need to start wearing black and white stripes when she is meeting with us to match her referee skills. A sincere ‘Thank You’ to Miss Jenna.

Next up, we decided to take on a HUGE project. We’ve decided to sell Max’s baby stuff on Craig’s list. We decided that this could be a move that will help us reach a few goals. It will help us raise some money to reduce debt and help with the Project Money contest. By cleaning out the attic we are now able to lay down some more insulation to help with the heating bills with winter. Also, we can reduce clutter. It feels REALLY great to give some of these wonderful items a new home. We were blessed with lots of gifts for Max’s arrival. It seems a shame to have these great clothes, toys, furniture, equipment, bouncy chairs, etc. go unused.

I did 37 trips up and down the attic ladder, we took about 100 pix and uploaded them one by one onto the laptop, wrote 22 Craig’s List ads and uploaded them. I’ve put about 9 solid hours into the project (Dan has been helping, too!) Hopefully we can sell some of the big ticket items (crib, car seat & stroller combo, etc) to help reach some of our goals. Whatever does not sell, we are going to give to my niece Kristen for her baby that is due in a few months (yeah!!!)

We are still working on the basic skills, doing our best and learning along the way. It is not always easy or fun. Trust us.

Is it totally worth it? You bet.

So not only did you reduce clutter, but you got exercise going up and down the ladder--sounds like a win-win! Clutter is one of my battles so I really want to cheer you on for tackling it. Good job!
