About Coach Steve Gehrmann

About Steve: “I have been happily married to my wonderful wife, Joyce, for 17 years.  We have a 13-year-old son who loves to play basketball and baseball.”

In his spare time:  “I am a huge sports fan and have had Badger Football tickets for more than 20 years.  We enjoy family vacations together and last year, drove to Pennsylvania, visited the Hershey Chocolate Factory and got our photo with the Rocky Balboa statue.”

Favorite movie:  ‘Rudy’. “The main character makes the football team at Notre Dame, which is very inspirational.”

Favorite childhood TV show:  ‘Gilligan’s Island’.  “I loved how they could always improvise with very little resources.  Plus, I always thought it was hilarious when Gilligan & the Skipper got frustrated with each other.”

First paying job:  De-tasseling corn in Sun Prairie.  It was way too hot and no fun at all!

Best financial tip: ‘The Spending Plan.’“You need to know how much money is coming in and where that money is going. If you don’t have the foundation you can’t build the roof.  It’s as easy as just tracking where the money goes and taking the time to do it.  It may be tedious but it is necessary.”

On helping others become financially successful: “When you are financially successful you have less worries and can enjoy life more.  It doesn’t mean you have more, just that you can do more.  It makes life that much easier and way more fun.  It’s a life changer!  I even wrote a book about life & money and how it all works together titled Your Life, Your Money, Your Choice: Spend it Wisely.”

What interesting item he keeps in his wallet:  “A list of goals I want to achieve for the year.”

Quirkiest habit:  “I like the lawn mower to mow in straight lines, so I won’t let my wife mow the lawn.  She is actually OK with it!”

What he’d do with $10K:  “I would save some, pay down some debts and then use the rest for a new TV.”

Favorite quote: Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you.  ~  Carl Sandburg

Steve is excited to help Andrea & Jason reach their goals. “It will be a great feeling to help them put the pieces together, reorganize and see their dreams come true.”
